Our Process

At Nelson Pension Services, we believe financial planning should be clear, structured, and transparent.

Our goal is to remove the guesswork from financial planning. Our process is designed to give you a full understanding of where you stand, where you’re going, and how to get there.

1. Identify Your Needs and Objectives

We want to know what matters most to you. In this meeting, we will discuss your financial priorities, long-term goals, past investment experience, personal values, and comfort with risk.

2. Gather Information

A clear plan starts with accurate information. During the planning process, we may request financial account statements, income information, estate plan documents, liability statements, insurance policies, and income tax returns.

3. Analyze Information and Develop Plan

We evaluate your financial picture using both quantitative and qualitative analysis. With your values and goals in mind, we will develop personalized strategies and outline preliminary recommendations.

4. Plan Presentation and Delivery

At this stage, we present a written financial plan that includes a detailed explanation of our recommendations. We walk through each component, explaining the rationale and how it supports financial goals.

5. Plan Implementation

This is putting your plan into action. It may include portfolio adjustments, insurance solutions, coordination with legal or tax professionals, or enrolling in employer-sponsored benefits. You are under no obligation to act on the recommendations or implement the plan through the products and services offered through Nelson Pension Services.

6. Review Your Progress and Update

Financial planning is dynamic in nature. As markets shift and your life evolves, your plan should also adapt. Typically, we recommend reviews every three years or after major life events such as marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, inheritance, or retirement milestones.
