Rick Nelson is the founder and president of Nelson Pension Services, bringing more than five decades of experience in the financial services industry. Since entering the profession in 1975 and establishing the firm in 1996, he has dedicated his career to helping individuals and business owners pursue long-term financial security and prepare for retirement with clarity and purpose.
As an investment adviser representative, Nelson holds Series 7, 63, 65, 22 and 6 securities registrations. He is also a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®) and a member of Kingdom Advisors, a network of Christian financial professionals committed to integrating faith-based principles into financial guidance.
Nelson’s interest in financial stewardship began early in life and continues to guide his work. In addition to his professional practice, he served for 14 years in the Financial Life Ministry at Rock Church in San Diego, where he taught biblical financial principles and helped individuals apply them to their daily lives.
Originally from Lindstrom, Minnesota, Nelson graduated from Shattuck Military School in Faribault before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance, with a minor in marketing, from the University of Oklahoma. He relocated to San Diego in 1975, where he began his career in financial services.
Nelson and his wife, JoAnn, have been married for more than 40 years and have three children and five grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, playing golf, making annual trips to Minnesota in the fall, and following Oklahoma Sooners football.
